The Checkmate is where geometry meets geology — a cube of hand-cut stone with a chess-inspired checkerboard top and bold vertical stripes on every face. Each square and stripe is individually shaped from contrasting travertine, creating a piece that rewards attention from every angle. Compact enough for a bedside or sofa-side, yet striking enough to stand alone as sculptural art.

Request Customisation →We work with a curated selection of natural marble and travertine. Marble is born deep within the earth over millions of years — no two pieces will ever be the same. Veining, colour, texture, and tone are signatures of its origin, not flaws. The stone you receive will carry its own character, distinct from any image. Pieces cut from different blocks may vary in shade and movement. This is the nature of the material, and what makes it extraordinary.
Marble: Seal upon delivery. Wipe with a soft damp cloth. Avoid acidic cleaners.
Travertine: Seal every 6–12 months. Blot spills immediately. Use pH-neutral cleaners.
